Founded in June 2023 and officially opened in August 2023, Lake Nona Chess club has offered opportunities for chess lovers of all ages to come together as a community and play chess. Founder, Cindy Ransom, was inspired to create the club when her son, Cash, showed an increasing interest in the game. After reaching out to several locations she was finally welcomed by Mathnasium of Lake Nona to host her biweekly club.

Lake Nona Chess club celebrated one year in 2024 and kicked it off with their first tournament. Cindy has greatly enjoyed creating fun chess lessons and games for the kids while seeing people from all over the community bring their children to socialize and improve their chess skills learning from one another. Forming a club that provides a welcoming environment for the parents and for adults to play one another has been something that Cindy is truly passionate and proud about.
